The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County Inc. believes Delaware County is a great place to live. They also believe they can make it even better. So they work every day to improve our community. They find a way to make a difference through grants to local nonprofits, scholarships to students, and leadership to the community…and they’ve been doing it for 30 YEARS!

“We are excited for this important milestone and are planning a 30 Days of Community outreach effort starting Thursday, October 1, 2015. Part of the effort is sharing 30 stories, one each day to represent every year we have served Muncie and Delaware County.   These stories show the impact the Foundation has made in and for the community over the last 30 years and include some of the people we have touched along the way. We hope all Delaware County residents help us celebrate by visiting our special website 30daysofcommunity.org to learn more about our journey to improve the quality of life in Muncie and Delaware County for this generation and generations to come,” says Kelly Shrock, president of The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc.

The community foundation concept is powerful – raise a permanent pool of funds from this community to give back to this community today, tomorrow and forever. To that end, The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. manages contributions donated by individuals, businesses and corporations as a permanent community endowment. Distributions from these funds are given back to the community in the form of grants to nonprofit organizations and scholarships to students. In their effort to improve the quality of life in Muncie and Delaware County and meet the ever changing needs of residents, the Foundation grants dollars broadly in the areas of arts and culture, community betterment, economic development, education and human services. As a publicly supported philanthropic institution, the Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of local citizens.

Now celebrating its 30th year, The Community Foundation’s permanent endowment has grown to $55 million and more than $41 million has been awarded in grants and scholarships to enrich the lives of the residents of Muncie and Delaware County. Chances are every person in Delaware County has been affected at least once by the efforts of The Community Foundation as they work towards the betterment of our community and leave a legacy for the future.   Don’t miss the chance to be a part of 30 Days of Community starting October 1, 2015 at 30daysofcommunity.org to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc.   Find inspiration and encouragement in the six videos and twenty-four stories over 30 days in October.
