Ball State University’s IDIA Lab has designed a special interactive 3D theater experience for Muncie Downtown Development’s screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on September 10, 2016. The movie will be held at Canan Commons.

An immersive multimedia show will precede the screening – with lasers, video, music and special effects. During the film, the audience can use a special App called Moonlight Movies – downloadable through the Apple and Google Play stores – as a companion experience to augment the film. Lighting queues will prompt audience members to use their smartphones to see additional 3D content surrounding them – spaceships, laser blasts, holograms, etc will appear – timed with the movie. IDIA Lab designed the show with partners Muncie Sight and Sound.

Audience members attending the movie are encouraged to download the app from the Apple App store or Google Play before attending the movie. To find the app, just search for the terms “Moonlight Movies.” The correct app will be the one that features an icon of the familiar Muncie DWNTWN logo.
