The Community Foundation Announces Town Endowment Grant Awards for 2017

  • Liberty Perry Selma Town Endowment Fund at The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc., is awarding $500 to the Liberty Township Fire Department for the purchase of a new CO 4 gas detector. This important tool helps the fire department identify harmful gasses such as carbon monoxide and natural gas, as well as monitor air inside and outside a home during house fires to assure the air is safe to breathe.
  • Yorktown Endowment Fund at The Community Foundation is awarding $2,500 to Delaware County BY5 Early Childhood Initiative, Inc. and $500 to the Yorktown Council for the Arts.

BY5 will use this funding to conduct a Kickoff to Kindergarten program this summer at Pleasant View Elementary School for incoming Kindergarten students.

The grant to the Yorktown Council for the Arts will support the programs or projects which they determine to have the greatest need.

  • Town of Gaston Endowment Fund at The Community Foundation is awarding $1,300 to Wes-Del Preschool and $1,300 to Wes-Del Youth Athletic Association, Inc.

With support from this funding, Wes-Del Preschool will purchase equipment to support operations of the preschool. A copier and ink will allow preschool teachers to obtain materials for students in a timely manner and better communicate with parents. Outdoor play equipment will help preschool school students in social, physical, cognitive, and language development through play.

The Wes-Del Youth Athletic Association will use this funding to replace outfield and foul line fencing around baseball diamonds.
