Muncie, IN— Latin Grammy nominees Flor De Toloache, New York City’s first and only all-women Mariachi group, will perform in a FREE outdoor concert as part of the 2017 Muncie Three Trails Music Series. The concert will take place at 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 26th at Canan Commons (500 S. Walnut St.) in the heart of downtown Muncie, IN. Latin classical guitarist Michael Isla will open the show.

Flor De Toloache, which translates as “deadly flower” and also refers to a main ingredient in traditional love potions, was founded in 2008 and is lead by singers Mireya Ramos (founder) & Shae Fiol (original member). They weave a variety of influences (e.g., salsa, bactata, cumbia, gypsy, Latin jazz, pop, hip-hop, soul) into their unique sound, giving them an edgy, versatile and fresh take on traditional Mexican music. They perform original songs, new arrangements of classic Mariachi tunes, as well as an eclectic selection of covers that can include songs by artists such as Adele and Erykah Badu.

Flor De Toloache’s critically acclaimed self-titled debut album received a 2015 Latin Grammy nomination for “Best Ranchera Album”. Sharing the podium with legends Pedro Fernández and Aida Cuevas testifies to their embrace by the Latin Music Community. The group’s live performances have also been praised in the pages of Rolling Stone, Billboard Magazine, The New Yorker, GQ Magazine, The New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal. They have also toured and played with Black Keys’ guitarist/singer Dan Auerbach’s band, The Arcs. In addition to performances to sold out audiences in the UK, Germany, Holland, Italy, France, they continue to captivate crowds in the U.S. at legendary venues such as First Avenue in Minneapolis, The Vic in Chicago, Terminal 5 in New York, and Nashville’s Ryman Theater (The Grand Ole Opry). Full information can be found at www.munciethreetrails.com and at https://www.facebook.com/events/745558448958413/.

About the Muncie Three Trails Music Series
The Muncie Three Trails Music Series is a non-profit partnership between Muncie Downtown Development Partnership, Muncie Arts and Culture Council, and Rick Zeigler, series founder and organizer. The mission of the series is to bring critically acclaimed, national recording artists to perform at Canan Commons, Muncie’s premier outdoor performance venue, located in the heart of Downtown Muncie. A second mission is to promote the many recreational, artistic, and cultural attractions located along, or in close proximity to, Canan Commons and Muncie’s popular “Three Trails” — The White River Greenway, Cardinal Greenway, and Muncie Arts and Culture Trail. We are pleased that, on August 26th, Flor De Toloache will be adding Muncie’s Canan Commons to the above list. Please join us for this great concert.
