Muncie Artists Guild announces the opening of their 64th Annual Show, Lasting Impressions, on Sunday, August 13 at Minnetrista.
The show will be up for two weeks, ending August, 27. The opening reception is noon to 3pm in the Indiana Room. It is open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
This year’s judge is Lynnette Whitesell, a Hartford City artist who works in watercolor and mixed media. She will be at the opening reception and will be speaking about this year’s entries and the awards she has chosen.
The reception will give art patrons an opportunity to meet the judge and also the artists who created the pieces in the show. There will be a variety of mediums on display including acrylic, drawing, mixed media, pastel, photography, oil, watercolor and 3-D.
The Muncie Artists Guild was started in 1953, mentored by Ball State’s Dr. Alice Nichols and held their first Annual Show at Ball Store’s Blue Room. The Guild recently completed a 24 panel mural entitled “Main Street, 1907”. Twenty different artists completed the mural which measures 6’ x 9’. It was gifted to the City of Muncie and hangs in City Hall. The Guild is open to artists and art patrons from Delaware County, plus the contiguous counties.
