Muncie, IN—It’s almost fall and Cornerstone Center for the Arts is gearing up for a busy class session! Cornerstone will offer various activities during the month of September including one-time workshops and the start of the fall class session. Upcoming one-time workshops include Monthly Dance Club, Bad Art Night at Cornerstone, Coffee & Paints, Forgotten Places and Faces of Muncie, and Pints & Paints at The Fickle Peach.

Monthly Dance Club is a monthly social dance event at Cornerstone. Each event begins with an hour of dance instruction in swing, ballroom, salsa, or tango dancing led by instructor David Fennig followed by a few hours of open dancing. The next Monthly Dance Club is Saturday, September 1 from 7 to 10:30 p.m. and is $12 per person or $7 for students, no pre-registration is necessary for this event. The September Monthly Dance Club will feature a lesson in cha-cha.

Bad Art Night will be at Cornerstone on Thursday, September 20 at 6 p.m. This collaboration between Cornerstone and Muncie Public Library encourages attendees to raid through a collection of arts and crafts supplies to make their very own disasterpiece. Guests are awarded for their tacky, terrible, and creepy art with various prizes. The event is free to attend with a suggested $5 donation to help with costs.

The next Coffee & Paints workshop will be on Saturday, September 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and is open to students in the 4th grade through adults. Attendees who are experienced artists or are completely new to painting will enjoy creating in this relaxed atmosphere. Registration is $25 per person. September’s featured painting is an iconic covered bridge.

Forgotten Places and Faces of Muncie will be on Tuesday, September 25 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This free workshop will feature maps, historic photographs, newspaper articles, and diary entries related to some of the interesting people and beautiful buildings that shaped Muncie’s history and culture. This presentation will feature custom maps created by the Ball State University Libraries GIS Research and Map Collection.

Pints & Paints is a unique painting experience held at The Fickle Peach in Downtown Muncie. Attendees will enjoy two hours creating the featured painting at each workshop. The workshop is for ages 21 and up and includes one drink in the $25 registration fee. The next Pints & Paints will be on September 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The featured painting for September is an underwater ocean scene.

In addition to these one-time events, Cornerstone’s fall 12 week class session will begin the week of September 10. Classes are available to children and adults in visual arts, dance, theatre, music, martial arts, fitness, and more! No previous experience is required. Classes have low-cost one-time fees and limited financial aid is available to those who qualify.
