Muncie and IndianapolisIt’s the season of giving, and Walls Mattress is giving back in a new way.

The locally owned mattress store is hosting a community blood drive Monday, Dec. 17 in Muncie and Castleton.

“According to the American Red Cross, someone in the country needs blood every two seconds, and just one donation could save up to three lives,” the Facebook event page for the blood drive says.

The store’s owners decided to host a blood drive as a way to give back to the community.

“We wanted to do something that impacted the entire community,” owners Auston Walls and Craig Robbins, said. “Blood donations expire after about 40 days, so there’s always a high demand for them. We hope this blood drive helps brighten the holiday season for families going through tough circumstances this time of year.”

To show their gratitude to all who donate during the blood drive, Walls said the store will offer 10 percent off an in-store purchase to anyone who donates.

The blood drive will take place outside the Walls Mattress store in Muncie and in Castleton from 1–5 p.m. Dec. 17. Walls encourages anyone interested to make a free reservation through the event’s Eventbrite in order to guarantee a donation spot and discount.
