Seven Delaware County Nonprofits Receive $47K from the Maxon Foundation Fund at The Community Foundation

Muncie, IN—The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. has awarded $47,450 to seven nonprofit organizations from the Maxon Foundation Fund.

The Maxon Foundation Fund was established when assets of The Maxon Foundation were transferred to The Community Foundation. The Maxon Foundation was originally established by Maxon Corporation and the founding family as a way to give back to the community and support worthy causes in Delaware County.  The Maxon Foundation Fund generally awards grants to organizations and programs that support at-risk children and families in Delaware County.

A Better Way Services, Inc. received $10,000 to provide items and services needed by victims of domestic violence and their children, such as childcare, transportation, work attire, school readiness, enrichment, documents, and medical care.

Bridges Community Services received $3,725 to offset the cost of utilities at the HUB facility which provides homeless individuals a place where they can take a shower, wash their clothes, and be directed to other needed services.

College Mentors for Kids, Inc. received $3,725 to expand to South View Elementary the one-on-one on-campus mentoring program that brings elementary-aged children from across Delaware County to Ball State University.

Greater Muncie, IN Habitat for Humanity received $5,000 to support revitalization efforts in the 8twelve Coalition area, specifically for a new house construction project that will be completed by Women Build 2019 volunteers.

Motivate Our Minds received $10,000 to support programming that provides quality academic instruction to more than 75 children in Muncie and Delaware County.

Ross Community Center Inc. received $5,000 to support afterschool, out-of-school, and family programming which strengthen creativity, imagination, and academic accomplishments of students and strengthens family bonds.

Youth Opportunity Center, Inc. received $10,000 to increase security for the 160 at-risk youth on their campus by installing security cameras and recorders.
