Muncie, IN—Do you represent a non-profit organization in Muncie or Delaware County whose purpose is to serve the needs of children? If so, the Kiwanis Club of Muncie invites you to submit an application for funding to support your project or service. “Due to the disruption of our weekly meetings, which often feature presentations from local non-profit organizations, we have been unable to connect directly with many of the groups who may be in need of funding,” said Dave Dixon, a Kiwanis member. “With this call out for funding proposals, we hope to learn more about organizations who are improving the lives of children in our community and to fund some of their projects.”

The Kiwanis Club of Muncie has been creating positive change in the Muncie and Delaware County community for more than 100 years. The programs and service projects of the club include dictionaries to all third graders each school year, books to all children in the Head Start program each Christmas, the Terrific Kid program that recognizes outstanding 5th grade students, and the recent Scholastic Book Oasis project that put new books and fun reading spaces in all MCS elementary schools and Cowan Elementary.

In addition to its own service projects, the club also provides financial assistance to other area organizations who serve children. Past recipients of Kiwanis funding include Huffer Memorial Children’s Center, Classroom Connections ECI, the MLK Dream Team, and the Muncie Public Library. Interested nonprofits must submit a Request for Proposal (RFP) that includes: a short description of the proposed project,  the target population, the proposed program or material, the intended outcome, and a budget summary. The RFP should be less than 500 words. Grants are generally in the $500-$2,000 range. Completed proposals should be mailed to: Kiwanis Club of Muncie, P.O. Box 884, Muncie, IN 47308 and must be received by Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Decisions will be announced by Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

The Kiwanis Club of Muncie is a service organization open to any adult who would like to join. Membership dues are collected each year to support the local group and the state, national, and international Kiwanis efforts. Kiwanis student service groups are also available at many high schools and colleges.
