MUNCIE, Ind.—After more than 20,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses, Open Door’s no-cost community vaccination clinic at 333 S. Madison St. in Muncie will provide its final vaccines this Friday.

As we shared in mid-March, hours at Open Door’s state-contracted vaccine sites were scaled back to one location and one day a week after a decrease in local demand, with April 29 slated as the final day of operation.

No-cost vaccination appointments remain available on April 29 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. To schedule, call (765) 286-7000. Online scheduling through ourshot.in.gov is no longer active for this location.

After April 29, community members will continue to have access to no-cost vaccination through multiple avenues, such as several primary care practices and local pharmacies. Community members are encouraged to call their primary care provider to learn if Covid immunization is available from their provider.

Availability at pharmacies and community vaccination sites is posted at www.ourshot.in.gov. Established Open Door patients can receive a Covid vaccination after April 29 by calling their provider to schedule a visit.

Since launching our community vaccination sites in January of 2021, Open Door’s teams have not only protected our region with more than 20,000 doses of Covid vaccine, but also hosted more than 40 neighborhood-based vaccine events in Delaware County.”Open Door’s teams are grateful to every community member who has trusted us, and continues to trust us, as a source for Covid vaccination, testing, and information about safety precautions,” shares Bryan Ayars, our president and CEO. “We’re thankful to serve in a community where so many non-profits, community centers, churches, and schools have stepped up to host vaccination events and help connect community members with tools for safety.”

Open Door providers encourage everyone to continue following CDC precautions, including getting vaccinated, as well as testing if you have symptoms.

Testing at Open Door’s no-cost drive-thru site, located at 1651 E. 29th St. in Muncie, remains available through June 30 and can be scheduled at www.opendoorhs.org/testing.

Continuing to care for each other well is our commitment to you, and we are extremely grateful for the continued support our communities show Open Door as we navigate the pandemic.
