The annual Back to School Heroes and Helpers, formerly known as Back to School Shop with a Cop, event will be held Saturday August 8th, 2015. Children are selected by the Salvation Army and their organization assists in shopping with children on that day.
Muncie Crime Stoppers has raised the funding through grants from several local companies and foundations. Funding has also been obtained by Crime Stopper Board members who sold raffle tickets for a cash award raffle at the Delaware County Fair. Many of the tickets were sold to MCS administrators and employees. MCS Security Officers, officers from local police departments, fire departments, EMS agencies, Indiana State Police Officers, Prevent Child Abuse Council members, several civic organizations, the Muncie Central ROTC program, MCS personnel, Ball State Organizations, Muncie Crime Stopper Board members, local politicians and office holders, and a myriad of other civic and safety organizations will be there to assist in shopping with one hundred economically disadvantaged children. The Muncie Target Store is the gracious host and has helped in funding as well.
