Muncie, IN—Muncie, Indiana joins a growing local community infrastructure and network to support tech start-ups, seeking to create a culture of learning by validating success and celebrating learning.

The launch of Verge ® Pitch Night, on May 11, 2016 —  served as a catalyst for the Verge Muncie Hub, a newly created monthly meet-up for entrepreneurs, developers and investors. The high-energy gatherings feature three start-up pitches and a knowledge- rich, topical fireside chat with a dynamic developer or industry expert, hosted by Jennifer Greene, Community Catalyst of The Co:Lab — Downtown Muncie’s Co-working Space. “Connecting Muncie to the Verge platform will allow local ideas to be shared and supported by a community culture fueled by our emerging startup scene,” said Greene.

Verge Founder, Matt Hunckler a regular contributor to Forbes, Huffington Post, UP Global and several other industry blogs, attended the kick-off event. “Verge ® is a network of more than 7,000 entrepreneurs, investors, developers, and supporters who are passionate about creating massive value through software, technology and their innovative businesses” said Hunckler. “You don’t have to be in Silicon Valley or even a big city to build something meaningful. In fact, most of us don’t even live on the coasts. We’re just building our businesses in places we call home and loving it.”

The May 11th event highlighted stage pitches from three local founders Craves Delivery, Blue Heron Tool and Supply and PROJECTiONE. The evening concluded with fireside guest, Michael Wolfe, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Ontario Systems. A Live stream video of the meet-up (through Periscope) widened the exposure nationwide for those presenting and participating.

Enthusiasm was extremely high for this addition to the growing Downtown entrepreneurial movement, which has garnered support from MutualBank as Founding Sponsor of the hub. Volunteer representatives of Ontario Systems, Intersection, The Co:Lab, Prime Trust Credit Union, Hoola Technology, and Muncie Civic Theater make up the organizing team “Verge Army” responsible for the production of each event.
