Muncie, IN —Muncie Civic Theatre invites you to “Be Our Guest” on Aug. 6 at Minnetrista for a celebration of the historic theater’s past, present and future. It’s a celebration that has certainly been a long time in the making.

“We’re creating a free, family-friendly experience for the Muncie community as a way of saying ‘thank you’ for helping us celebrate 86 seasons of entertainment,” said Laura Williamson, Muncie Civic Theatre’s Executive Director. “We will also be looking ahead to our exciting line-up of shows and programs and shining a light on the people and events that created Muncie Civic Theatre and its home in the historic Boyce Block building.”

The fun will begin at 6 p.m. on the lawn with inflatables, carnival games, food vendors and more. You’ll want to pick your spot for show as well, so don’t forget blankets and/or chairs.

The show, which will begin at 7 p.m., will offer a preview of Civic’s next season, from the opener “Beauty and the Beast,” to scene and song selections from “Memphis,” “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “Grease.”

“We will also feature actors from our Barrier-Free Theatre program and welcome new members into our Board of Directors,” Williamson said.

And, she added, there will be a “very special announcement about what the future holds for Muncie Civic Theatre and its place in our community.”

This Summer Spectacular, of course, is open to the entire community. Williamson said she hopes to see theater veterans (Season Subscribers will receive a free gift upon arrival) as well as those who might be experiencing Muncie Civic – and everything it has to offer – for the first time.

So, as Lumiere sings in “Beauty and the Beast,” “We invite you to relax, let us pull up a chair. …Be Our Guest!”

Rain location for the event will be the Muncie Civic Mainstage Theatre, 216 E. Main St., Downtown Muncie.
