MUNCIE, IN – Three graduate programs at Ball State University are ranked in the top 20 in the country in U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 “Best Online Programs.”

The magazine ranked the university’s online master in business administration (MBA) at 12th, with nursing at 13th and education at 16th. The publication also ranked Ball State’s online bachelor’s programs at 36th.

In 2016,education was 11th, MBA was 12th and nursing was 23rd while online bachelor’s programs were 34th.

Ball State has a tradition of excellence in providing quality online programs, says Trudi Weyermann, assistant provost for learning initiatives, who notes that since the publication started ranking online programs six years ago, Ball State degrees have consistently ranked well.

“Our dedicated faculty understand the unique needs of online students, and that set us apart from other colleges and universities,” she said. “Our online courses are developed and taught by the same faculty who teach on our main campus. They are committed scholars who have experience in the real world.”

Ball State also provides specialized services for online students. Among these are attentive advisors and concierge services to help students effectively and efficiently navigate their online college experience, Weyermann said.

“Our level of student support services consistently designates Ball State as a leader in online education,” she said.

U.S. News rankings are compiled annually and take into account such factors as faculty credentials, student engagement (which includes retention and graduation rates), class size, peer reputation and the quality of the university’s student services and technology.
