You’re familiar with Mancino’s Pizza & Grinders, right? You should be. They’ve been around for over 20 years. But, did you know that right next door, Mancino’s also has a sweet shop?

The Mancino’s Sweet Shop just finished celebrating their 1st anniversary at their location next door to Mancino’s Pizza and Grinders. Mancino’s Sweet Shop specializes in made-to-order ice cream sandwiches, shakes and sundaes.

Owners Jeff and Amanda Carrigan of Mancino’s Pizza & Grinders teamed up with Sara Rogers of No Crumb Left Behind a few years ago to offer her cookies in the Pizza & Grinders shop. But Jeff felt the Mancino’s operation needed to offer a more fully developed and separate dessert area. That area became Mancino’s Sweet Shop and Sara’s cookies are now one of the ingredients to their niche handmade ice cream sandwiches.

“Our ice cream sandwiches and desserts are totally hand-dipped and handmade,” said Jeff. “If you think about it, most ice cream locally is pulled from a machine or a custard. So, we are a little different in that respect.

“We use Hershey’s ice cream and have cups, cones, sundaes, malts and milkshakes—in addition to our ice cream sandwiches—all starting from 24 different flavors of hand-dipped ice cream. We’ve put some starter suggestions on our menu: (The Classic, Not-Your-Granny’s-Apple-Pie, Salted Caramel Latte, Monkey Business, Inside-Out Peanut Butter Cup, and Mint Madness)— but customers can mix-and-match cookies and ice cream however they’d like.”

For example, put together a triple-chocolate cookie and pair it with coconut ice cream and you get a “Mounds Bar.” The combination of different ice cream sandwich combos is seemingly endless. At least endless enough for Jeff to start planning to add a fourth chalkboard menu for listing combos customers have come up with and named.

Unique to the sweet shop is their “ice cream flight.” A flight is a single-scoop-sample of 6 different types of ice cream from the flavors available. A flight is a great way to introduce yourself to their ice cream flavors.
