Muncie, IN—On Monday, November 13, 2017, the City of Muncie’s annual free Veterans Day and military honor program takes place at the Muncie Central High School auditorium at 801 N. Walnut St. in Muncie, Indiana. The public is invited to attend in remembrance of all American veterans.

The evening begins with a 6:30 pm musical prelude to the Veterans Day program, performed by the combined, side-by-side group of America’s Hometown Band (90% BSU grads) and MCHS band students. Music director for this event is John Clark, Muncie Central High School Band Director. This annual AHB outreach program with the MCHS musicians is in its 20th year, and the traditional combined patriotism is a great example of the Muncie/Ball State “Better Together” initiative.

The Honor Program starts at 7:00 o’clock and features a local color guard presentation plus speakers from the Veterans Affairs Office of Delaware County and the Muncie Mayor’s Office. The Veterans Day program chairman is Dale Basham, who will be hosting a dialogue with Justin Oliver, a recent combat Veteran who now serves as the Assistant Principal at Muncie Central HS.

This Band is Your Band. The non-profit America’s Hometown Band is Muncie’s municipal band. The 2017 Veterans Day program is sponsored by the City of Muncie, Dennis Tyler, Mayor; Muncie Community Schools; the Exchange Club of Muncie; Ball State University; and the George and Frances Ball Foundation.
