Muncie, IN – Ben Smith, CPA, CGMA, was recently appointed by Commissioner Adam Krupp to a newly formed Tax Advisory Council for the Indiana Department of Revenue.  Smith is CEO of Muncie-based accounting firm Estep-Doctor & Company and has been a Certified Public Accountant for 28 years.

As a member of this council, Smith will serve a two-year term and meet quarterly with the Commissioner and his team.  Krupp has formed the 14-member panel to provide direct feedback to him regarding matters of tax administration in Indiana in order to improve the overall customer service processes at the Indiana Department of Revenue.

In a press release, Krupp described the council as “a collective wealth of experience, subject matter expertise, and viewpoints outside the agency that will ensure we have more access than ever to the voice of our customers.”

“I strongly believe in what Commissioner Krupp brings to the table in revising and refining how the DOR conducts its operations,” Smith said while recalling Krupp’s previous assignment at overhauling the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.  “His track record of success at improving the BMV really encourages me that we will be part of something meaningful for the state.”
