7 Delaware County Non-profits Receive $54K from the Maxon Foundation Fund

Muncie, Ind. – The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. has awarded $54,888 to seven non-profit organizations from the Maxon Foundation Fund.

The Maxon Foundation Fund was established when assets of The Maxon Foundation were transferred to The Community Foundation. The Maxon Foundation was originally established by Maxon Corporation and the founding family as a way to give back to the community and support worthy causes in Delaware County.  The Maxon Foundation Fund generally awards grants to organizations and programs that support at-risk children and families in Delaware County.

A Better Way Services, Inc. received $10,000 to provide items and services needed by victims of domestic violence, such as childcare, transportation, work attire, school readiness, documents, and medical care.

Boys and Girls Club of Muncie received $10,000 to provide 30 teens with college tours in Indiana and the surrounding states.

Greater Muncie, IN Habitat for Humanity received $15,000 to support revitalization efforts in the 8Twelve Coalition area, specifically for a new house construction project.

Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce received $5,000 to defray the cost of hosting FAFSA labs in area high schools.

Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana, Inc. received $5,000 for a summer program gears to empower and embolden youth whose families participate in the Forward S.T.E.P.S. initiative.

Soup Kitchen of Muncie received $2,600 for facility improvements.

The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. received $7,288 for the Successful Schools Fund, a program that supports professional development for teachers at Muncie Community Schools.
