Muncie, IN—T&H Sweeper is a family-owned and operated business with a rich local history. T&H Sweeper’s early roots began in 1965 at the downtown Walnut Street store in Muncie. The company has grown to a total of 4 locations and 15 employees.

Unlike a typical box store, T&H Sweeper is all-inclusive—with sales, service and repair services at each location. Customers get the opportunity to try out T&H Sweeper’s different models/brands in order to get a feel for the operation, weight, attachment options, and ease of use of each individual product. Right there in the store. Try doing that at a big box store! Security would certainly usher you out, post haste.

Tamra Hickey-Conatser is manager of the West McGalliard location. “My great uncle worked for the Kirby Vacuum Brand in the area, so he and my grandparents worked together to help each other during our early days. My grandparents opened the original downtown T&H Sweeper on Walnut Street. In the 90’s my parents, Tom and Kathy Hickey bought the downtown store, and then opened a store on West McGalliard in Muncie, along with stores in Anderson and Westfield.  In 2017, T&H Sweeper moved to a new building just east of the original McGalliard location that includes a very spacious sales floor.

Vacuuming Tips For Winter

With the holiday season coming up, Tamra has a few tips on what to do with your vacuum before your holiday guests arrive, in order to make your carpets and floors look their best.

“Get your vacuum serviced at least once a year,” she says. “If you haven’t serviced your vacuum for a while, now is a great time to do so.  In order for your vacuum to pick up properly, it needs new belts once a year, and new brushes, too.  Brushes wear-out just like your toothbrush does. If you have pets, its always a good idea to get your vacuum serviced, since your pets will be inside your home longer during cooler weather and pet hair will accumulate on your carpeting more than when your pets are outside a lot during the warmer months.”

Tamra also recommends that if you are looking to purchase a new vacuum, look for one with metal brush rolls. A vacuum with a metal brush roll will clean better and last longer. Vacuum’s with plastic brush rolls can often melt when hair gets wrapped around them. T&H Sweeper is the only store in the area that sells vacuum’s equipped with metal brush rolls.

“I had let go of my old Shark and walked out with a brand new one. Easiest exchange ever … the guys at T&H McGalliard are down to earth, friendly, kind and very helpful.”—Lorri

“Thank you for your great customer service. Looking forward to using my new sweeper and carpet cleaner…”—Lora

“I do not know what you all did to our Kirby, but it sounds like a jet getting ready to take off. (Which is good thing.) I think it sucked the color out of the carpet. It’s working awesome. Thanks T&H Sweeper!—Jeremy

“I needed a new sweeper that was light and easier to handle. (Since I’m getting older and don’t like dragging out my big heavy one). Tim introduced me to a cordless SupraLite Riccar. It is wonderful! Thanks Tim!—Laurie
