Muncie, IN—Caregivers are silent heroes living among us. They help manage medication, give baths, and comfort loved ones at a time when they need it the most. Many do not identify themselves as caregivers because they are simply doing what needs to be done. For this reason, and so many others, the nation honors and celebrates the dedication and sacrifices of caregivers in November for National Family Caregivers Month.

Caring for a loved one is extremely rewarding, however, it can also take its toll on the physical and mental health of the caregiver. Caregiving often requires a switch in roles – sons taking care of their fathers, or wives caring for their husbands. It is common for caregivers to be stressed and experience burn out which leads to feelings of anger, frustration, exhaustion, and loneliness.

LifeStream Services recognizes the important role caregivers have in helping their loved one live the quality of life they deserve, and know that it is not an easy task. If you are a caregiver, we invite you to unwind and relax at Floral by Design. This caregiver exclusive event is on December 11 from 1pm to 3pm at Silver Birch in Muncie. Floral by Design participants will have the opportunity to enjoy wine, dessert, and holiday music while creating a floral arrangement to take home. Registration is just $5 and ends on December 6. Those interested in attending can register online at www.lifestreaminc.org/floralregistration or call 765-405-3001.

If you are a caregiver, find a moment to take time for you. If you know a caregiver, ask how you can help. National Family Caregivers Month may be just one month, but there are many reasons to support and honor caregivers throughout the entire year.
