Muncie, IN—The award recognizes a volunteer who has made an extraordinary volunteer commitment to continue the mission of Motivate Our Minds.

The award was announced during the Motivate Our Minds virtual luncheon on August 7th. This was a great opportunity for community members to learn more about the organization as well as how Motivate Our Minds has been supporting students and families during the past few months.

Ruth Freund was an extraordinary friend of Motivate Our Minds. Co-founder, Mary Dollison, was introduced to Ruth Freund when Motivate Our Minds established a proven track record of mentoring and changing lives of children in Muncie and Delaware County.

Ruth Freund was the very first friend of the program who designated Motivate Our Minds in her estate planning. Even after her passing, the program continues to be inspired by her extraordinary caring and generosity. This generosity continues with Mr. and Mrs. Freund’s children who continue their parents’ legacy by continuing to support Motivate Our Minds each and every year.

When you tour Motivate Our Minds, the first classroom has been dedicated and named “The Ruth and Bernard Freund Community Room.”

In the Spirit of Ruth Freund’s extraordinary legacy with Motivate Our Minds, the Ruth Freund Award was first presented in 2000.
