INDOT Awards Muncie With Federal Funding for Local Roads

Muncie, IN—INDOT has awarded the City of Muncie $4.6 million of Federal Highway Administration construction and inspection funds for local projects. INDOT dedicates approximately 25% of its Federal Highway funds to supporting local projects each year.

The projects that were funded include Tillotson from Kilgore to McGalliard,  McGalliard from Tillotson to Wheeling and McGalliard from Martin Luther King Junior Blvd to the 67 bypass, east of Muncie Mall. The Tillotson to Kilgore construction was awarded $2,116,000.

West McGalliard to the bypass at east McGalliard was awarded a total of $3,464,000.The awards are provided in a 20/80 method.

“The City of Muncie is excited to receive support from INDOT to help resurface and improve two of our main thoroughfares,” said Mayor Dan Ridenour. “We were able to apply for and receive additional funding from INDOT for need based projects in the city.”

These funds are in addition to the Community Crossing funding the city has already received. While the funds awarded now are dedicated to construction , INDOT will be financially participating in the design, engineering, and right-of-way acquisition components of these projects.
