Muncie Central Alumni Association Annual Dinner and Meeting Set for Nov. 12

MUNCIE, Ind. —Reservations for the Muncie Central Alumni Association dinner and annual meeting are due Friday, Oct 29.

Check-in for the event will take place from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, in the Muncie Central High School cafeteria. Attendees should enter the west door from the north parking lot.

Reservations for the event are $17.50 per person. Checks payable to the Muncie Central Alumni Association should be sent to 6604 W. Talamore Court, Yorktown, IN 47396. Attendees do not have to be a member of the association to attend.

After dinner, distinguished alumni awards will be presented to three Muncie Central graduates; the $2,000 awarded to Central teacher grants will be detailed; and the annual Central student who is the recipient of the association’s annual $2,000 scholarship will be recognized.

Speaker for the event will be Melissa Gentry, the supervisor of the Ball State University Libraries’ GIS Research and Map Collection, which includes more than 140,000 maps and atlases. Her topic will be “Sidelined: A Legacy of Central Athletes in Indiana and Beyond.”

Gentry has presented programs at the Indiana Association of Historians, the National Council on Public History, the “In Her Own Right” Symposium with the Philadelphia Area Consortium of Special Collections Libraries, the Indiana Historical Bureau, the Indiana League of Women Voters Annual Meeting, and the Midwestern History Conference.

The association’s scholarships and teacher grants are supported through memberships in the Muncie Central Alumni Association and donations to the association.
