MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie & Delaware County BY5 Early Childhood Initiative, Inc.—Delaware County’s leading organization for promoting early childhood awareness—recently hired BriAnna Green as assistant director of childcare resources.

Green previously spent seven years working at a childcare center, during which time she served as both assistant director and director.

“That experience gave me an overarching look into early childhood education, because I got to see what children, educators andparents need to excel. It allowed me to learn how to support each of these populations in various ways and provide optimal care for everyone involved in the childcare experience,” Green said.

In addition to her early childhood experience, Green also served a stint as executive director of a Michigan-based task force focused on substance abuse prevention and mental health in youth and adolescents.

“BriAnna’s experience in the early childhood field—from the classroom to leadership positions—really stuck out to us in the interview process,” said Missy Modesitt, executive director of BY5.  “We are excited to have her on the BY5 team, as she brings knowledge and experience from the field.”

Green first became familiar with BY5 when she served as a Family Navigator for the organization.

“I saw that BY5 was onto something huge when they started bringing providers in the county together to work collaboratively to undertake some of the challenges all providers are facing,” she said. “I 100 percent believe that when the providers are thriving, subsequently the children and families will thrive too.”

As assistant director of childcare resources, Green will develop and strengthen relationships and rapport with Delaware County providers, assist providers in promoting and filling open childcare seats by connecting with families, and study and develop plans that will result in an increased number of high-quality childcare seats by identifying barriers to capacity-building.

“I think it’s critical to clearly define what ‘high-quality early learning’ looks like,” Green said. “There are some really innovative ways we can go about making sure there is a standard in Delaware County that all of the providers have the resources to reach.”

Luckily, Green said she has “a vault of ideas” and is excited to begin working with the BY5 team to implement new initiatives.

“We want BY5 to be the first call for childcares experiencing issues or questions regarding their work in the profession. In her role, BriAnna will work closely with providers to find solutions and answers,” Modesitt said.
