MUNCIE, IN—Two dozen young people from the Muncie Central High School Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) volunteered their time to set up the field of flags for Flags of Honor. More than 1,000 flags were placed on the lawn at Minnetrista beside the White River Greenway.

Flags of Honor is in partnership with the Exchange Club of Muncie in honor and memory of local veterans, current service personnel, fallen heroes, and all who wish to display their pride for our country. The display will continue through Sunday, September 11.

The Flags of Honor is hosted by the Exchange Club of Muncie in partnership with Minnetrista and with the support of generous community sponsors.

“With the help of the JROTC, and other volunteers, we were able to post 1,000 flags for a display to the community,” said Harold Roberts, Flags of Honor Coordinator for the Exchange Club of Muncie. “Members of the JROTC were key to the process. We are grateful for their commitment to this program.”

Northside Middle School’s cross-country team also volunteered their time to ensure that the Flags of Honor setup was complete on Tuesday morning.

The Exchange Club of Muncie was founded in 1921. It is one of more than 630 local clubs throughout the United States and Puerto Rico that provide individuals with opportunities to use their time and talents to benefit their local communities and country. This year, the Exchange Club of Muncie celebrates 100 years of working together to make our community a better place to live through service in Americanism, Community Service, Youth Programs, and the Prevention of Child Abuse.
