Blood pressure screenings aim to raise awareness for heart health.

East Central Indiana— Partners in the Healthy Community Alliance of East Central Indiana have planned a series of events aimed at raising awareness about the importance of a healthy heart and to encourage healthy habits that reduce the risk of heart disease.

Community members are invited to visit one of the following locations to have their blood pressure checked and discuss ways to live a heart-healthy lifestyle:

Invitation Clinic, Hartford City, IN – Monday, February 13, 3pm-5pm
Jay Community Center, Portland, IN – Thursday, February 16, 9am-1pm
Muncie Mall, Muncie, IN – Thursday, February 23, 9am-1pm (northeast entrance by Mall office)

Each event will have representatives on hand and information available from Indiana University Health, Purdue Extension, The Healthy Lifestyle Center, Invitation Clinic, and Open Door Health Services among others.

Attendees at any of the three events who get their blood pressure checked will be entered in a drawing for a 50” flatscreen TV, donated by the Invitation Clinic in Hartford City.

Additionally, numerous Healthy Community Alliance Partners are offering healthy lifestyle programs in February, and the YMCA of Muncie and Taylor University are encouraging community members to utilize their indoor walking facilities for free during the month of February.
