MUNCIE, IN—One of Muncie’s only family owned and operated health care practices has changed its name ahead of a major expansion.

Internists Associated, located on Royale Drive in Muncie, will now do business as Muncie Primary Care. Its five doctors, two nurse practitioners and more than 30 staff members provide primary health care for adults age 18 to 100-plus.

Muncie Primary Care was founded in its present location in 1981 by Dr. Steve Allen and his wife, nurse Cindy Allen. Their daughter, Dr. Megan Zelasko, has worked with the practice for 9 years and has been taking over the running of the office since 2014, when Dr. Allen retired.

Zelasko and her team chose the new name to be simpler and more readily understandable to people new to the Muncie area. The change comes as the practice finalizes designs for an addition roughly doubling the size of their current building. The practice recently purchased the empty lot next door with plans to enlarge and modernize its space while creating the capacity to accept more patients.

Current patients should note that Muncie Primary Care’s staff and services will remain the same, with the exception of a new doctor, Dr. Nick Berlon, arriving this summer.
