MUNCIE, IN—Nonprofit Support Network is excited to launch the pilot of the HR Resource and Help Desk, a free resource that addresses the unique human resource challenges faced by nonprofits. This resource is a centralized source for expert guidance and advice. The HR Resource and Help Desk will provide Muncie-Delaware County nonprofit staff and boards with the necessary support to navigate the complexities of human resource and employee management.

“Managing the human resources aspect of nonprofit organizations can be a complex undertaking, often requiring specialized knowledge and resources,” shares Carly Acree-King, Relationship and Resource Director. “Recognizing this need, the HR Resource and Help Desk was established to empower nonprofits with the tools they need to navigate the HR landscape effectively.”

This service comes after six months of planning and research with Kourtney McCaulliff, VP of Human Resources at Open Door Health Services, who will serve as the lead service partner on the implementation. Kourtney is a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional and has extensive HR industry knowledge through her ten years of experience in various roles in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Kourtney is past-president of East Central Indiana HR Association, an affiliate region chapter for SHRM.

“By leveraging local expertise and access to regional and national HR resources, nonprofits can ensure they are following best practices and maximizing the potential of their workforce,” Kourtney shared. “By prioritizing and investing in effective HR practices, nonprofits can create a productive and inclusive work environment that supports their mission and impact.”

At the center of the HR Resource and Help Desk is a virtual help desk that is available for executive directors and board chairs to receive customized support and advice from Kourtney in real-time related to:

  1. Recruiting and onboarding support: Assisting organizations with hiring processes, job descriptions, and streamlining the onboarding experience.
  2. People Management guidance: Providing expert advice on performance management, termination procedures, and unemployment-related matters.
  3. Policies and Procedures: Offering guidance in developing and enforcing comprehensive HR policies and procedures tailored to the specific needs of nonprofit organizations.

The Help Desk is not designed for emergent situations and is limited to four ticket submissions from nonprofits through the remainder of the year. Nonprofit Support Network is excited by the potential of this free service and looks forward to the opportunity of expanding the services in 2024.
