MUNCIE, IN—The City of Muncie has announced a partnership with Delaware County to expand the boundaries of the successful Make My Move program, offering a $5,000 incentive to eligible movers who relocate to unincorporated Muncie addresses. This expanded initiative is designed to attract remote workers from out of state to move to Muncie and Delaware County, further strengthening the local economy and community.
The Delaware County Redevelopment Commission has agreed to fund the $5,000 incentive for qualifying individuals, ensuring that those who are looking to make Muncie their home can take full advantage of the program’s benefits.
To be eligible for the program, participants must be moving from out of state, have a minimum individual income of $50,000, and bring their remote job with them. The Make My Move program is part of a broader effort to attract and retain talent in Indiana’s communities, with an emphasis on creating sustainable growth and vibrant neighborhoods.
Mayor Dan Ridenour expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, saying, “This is a great opportunity for Muncie to attract talented, motivated individuals who will help build the future of our community. By partnering with Delaware County, we can offer a wider range of housing options and further enhance the appeal of Muncie as a place to live and work. We are excited to welcome remote workers from all over the country who are looking for a welcoming community with a high quality of life. The economic impact of this program already speaks for itself, and this expansion will only increase those benefits.”
Since its inception, the Make My Move program has had a significant impact on the local economy. To date, the program has generated an estimated $9.6 million in economic impact. Looking ahead, it is projected that the program will contribute $23.4 million in economic impact over the next five years, a testament to the value of attracting remote workers to the region.
Commissioner Stephen Brand also voiced his support for the expanded program: “The Delaware County Redevelopment Commission has been committed to fostering economic growth throughout the county. Expanding the Make My Moveprogram will not only help Muncie but will also contribute to the revitalization of surrounding areas. We’re thrilled to collaborate with the City of Muncie to bring remote workers and their talents to Delaware County. The economic potential of this program is enormous, and we’re eager to see it grow.”
This initiative is expected to provide a boost to Muncie’s local economy, stimulate real estate development, and support local businesses. The program also serves to diversify the population and add new perspectives to the region, contributing to the long-term growth of the community.
