MUNCIE, IN – Muncie Public Library (MPL) is proud to announce the receipt of a $10,000 Impact Grant from Tri Kappa of Muncie. This generous grant supports the library’s efforts to preserve local history and to enhance exhibits shared with the community.
The funding is being used to purchase archival storage supplies and storage furniture, which will provide better protection for the library’s valuable local history collections. These enhancements will ensure that Muncie’s rich history is preserved for future generations to enjoy.
Additionally, the grant funded the purchase of mobile exhibit panels that have been installed at each of the library’s four branches. Currently, the displays feature posters that commemorate the sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) of MPL and celebrate the library’s deep connection to the community. These reusable display panels will also be used for future exhibits, making it easy to share stories and visuals in a dynamic and accessible format for library patrons of all ages to enjoy.
According to Billie Sheppard, vice president of Tri Kappa, “Our group held a meeting at Carnegie Library, and we were impressed by the important work being done there to preserve our community’s history and to share that history with the public. When the library applied for and was selected for an Impact Grant, we knew we would be helping to continue these efforts.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Tri Kappa for their support,” said Muncie Public Library Director Alan Kornblau. “This grant will not only protect our local history collections but also enhance the library’s role as a community hub for education and culture.”
The poster exhibits can be viewed at any MPL branch during open hours. For more information about MPL, its history collections, exhibits, and upcoming library anniversary events, visit www.munpl.org or contact the library at 765-747-8200.
