IU Health Orthopedic Surgeon to Lead Care for Ball State Student Athletes

MUNCIE, INDIANA – IU Health Ball orthopedic surgeon Anthony McPherron, DO, MBA, FAOFO, is joining the orthopedic team that oversees care for Ball State Athletics through IU Health’s ongoing partnership with the university.

A board-certified orthopedic surgeon with more than 25 years of experience, Dr. McPherron brings deep expertise in sports medicine and joint replacement to his role. He will support the care of Ball State student-athletes, with a focus on injury prevention, performance enhancement, and long-term recovery.

Dr. McPherron has previously served as a team physician for Indiana University, Southeast Missouri State University, and Virginia Tech. He has also been a consultant with the New Orleans Saints and team physician in the New York Yankees system. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Ohio University, completed his fellowship at Tampa General Hospital, and holds a Master of Business Administration from Purdue University. In addition to his work with Ball State, he treats patients at IU Health Orthopedics and Sports Medicine – Muncie and serves on the faculty of the Orthopedic Residency and the Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship in Indianapolis.
