MUNCIE, IN — The Muncie Public Library (MPL) is proud to announce its inaugural “Live Well, Age Well Retirement Fair,” a free community event designed for adults aged 50 and older. The fair will be held on Monday, June 2, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Maring-Hunt Library.
Although the thought of retirement can be exciting for many, others may dread the thought of having so much free time. This event aims to help attendees make the most of their retirement years by connecting them with more than a dozen local organizations focused on social engagement, volunteering, health and wellness, lifelong learning, and more.
“This is not your typical retirement event,” said event organizer Dottie Kreps, Community Engagement Specialist at Muncie Public Library. “We’re focusing on retirees who want to stay active in the Muncie community—whether that means volunteering, joining a club, or just discovering new interests.”
Event highlights include:
- Informational booths from more than 12 community organizations
- Displays on travel, cooking, and personal enrichment
- Light refreshments
- Resources on essential retirement planning topics, including funeral pre-planning and wealth management
Participating organizations include:
- Muncie Senior Center
- Red-tail Land Conservancy
- Cardinal Greenway
- Second Harvest Food Bank
- Soup Kitchen of Muncie
- YMCA
- IU Health
- Minnetrista Museum and Gardens
- Purdue Extension
- Healthy Lifestyle Center
- Zokawa: The Center of Happiness
- Ginger and Mint Acupuncture and Herb Clinic
- Muncie Ukulele Group
- Pitman-Richman Funeral Home
- Stallings Wealth Management
“We’re excited to welcome so many wonderful partners,” added Kreps. “The library will also host a table to highlight how to get a library card and share information about free programs and events. We also look forward to hearing from attendees about what they’d like to see offered at MPL library branches in the future,” she said.
