SELMA, IN—Have you always wanted to learn to sail? Learn all about it at the Muncie Sailing Club 2025 Open House on Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
If you’ve always wanted to learn to sail, the open house is where you’ll get an introduction of Club facilities, learn about its many social events and more, on beautiful Prairie Creek Reservoir in Selma, Indiana, just minutes from Muncie and only 45 minutes from the northside of Indianapolis.
During the brief, two-hour open house, you’ll get a brief history of the Club and the different membership options (sailing, non-sailing, and kayaking). You’ll see the sailboats available for use, and see the docks for sailboat owners, spaces for day sailors, the sailboat and kayak launch areas along with various equipment for readying sailboats for the water. We’ll introduce you to our many social events and explain how members can use the grounds.
We’ll conclude with a tour of:
* Clubhouse (lockers, ice club; kitchen).
* Gin pole for mast raising/lowering.
* Picnic shelter and playground swings.
* Dock house-kayak storage and boat raising system.
* Docks and overview of a sailboat.
* Electric hoist.
* Launch ramp.
* Club Beach and swim area.

About the Muncie Sailing Club
Muncie Sailing Club is a member-governed, all-volunteer sailing club. We proudly strive to maintain a very affordable club to maximize the pleasure of sailing and kayaking for all. Founded in 1961, Club members sail and kayak on Prairie Creek Reservoir’s approximate 1,275 acres of clean water surrounded by 750 acres of land. By comparison, Prairie Creek Reservoir is similar in size to Geist Reservoir, but much less developed, and Prairie Creek Reservoir offers twice the sailable water of Eagle Creek Reservoir.
