MUNCIE, IN—Convenient healthcare services are coming to the new Muncie YMCA next month, care of Open Door Health Services. The new health center, opening on June 2, 2025, will offer primary care, chiropractic, and behavioral health services to community members.
“We’re excited to work alongside the Muncie YMCA with our shared mission of improving individual and community health and wellness,” said Bryan Ayars, Open Door CEO. “This partnership allows us to increase healthcare access to the residents who live in the neighborhoods around the YMCA, while also introducing more YMCA members to our high quality and compassionate care. We welcome new and existing patients to take advantage of our services.”
The Open Door health center will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., just inside the front doors of the Muncie YMCA at 615 N. Walnut Street. A YMCA membership is not required to access the Open Door space. The health center is a relocation and expansion of services previously offered at the Muncie Central School-Based Health Center.
The health center also is a key component of the Muncie YMCA’s overall vision for the facility. “From the beginning, this project has been fueled by the power of partnerships. None of us can do this work alone,” said Chad Zaucha, CEO of the YMCA of Muncie. “We designed the building to allow us to offer a continuum of healthy living resources, including those from other organizations. We believe having Open Door services onsite will reduce barriers to healthcare and help us build healthy spirits, bodies, and minds in our community.”
Open Door’s primary care services are focused on prevention, wellness, and building relationships with each patient. The team at the Muncie YMCA will provide annual check-ups, screenings, treatment for illness or injury, and management of conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. Community members who would like to establish care at the Muncie YMCA can call (765) 286-7000 to start the process.
The health center also will offer chiropractic services two days a week with Andrew Goul, DC, a Muncie native with 14 years of experience and advanced degrees in nutrition and human performance. Chiropractic appointments are open to anyone in the community – no referral or previous care with Open Door is required. Appointments may be scheduled at (765) 286-7000 or the Open Door front desk once the health center opens.
“The Muncie YMCA feels like the perfect place to share the benefits of chiropractic treatments with the community,” said Dr. Goul. “I believe natural interventions like massage, exercises, and good nutrition can go a long way toward increasing mobility and decreasing pain, stiffness, and tension in most people. I adopt a whole-body perspective and work with patients to customize a plan just for them.”
At all Open Door locations, the ability to pay is not a barrier to care. Most private insurances, Medicare, and Medicaid are accepted, and a sliding fee scale is available for those uninsured or underinsured.
