MUNCIE, IN —The YMCA of Muncie is pleased to announce that Wade Hampton will serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer beginning June 1, 2025 as the organization conducts a national search for its next CEO.
Wade brings more than 43 years of YMCA leadership experience, with a well-earned reputation for guiding organizations through times of transition with stability, mission-focus, and results-driven support. He is widely respected in the Y movement for his practical leadership style, strategic insights, and unwavering commitment to community impact.
“Wade is well known in the YMCA network for his steady leadership, commitment to community, and ability to support teams through transitions,” said Beth Trammell, Chief Volunteer Officer of the YMCA of Muncie Board of Directors. “Most—if not all—of our leadership team have already worked with Wade in some capacity, which should make for a smooth transition.”
Wade currently serves as CEO of the Indiana Alliance of YMCAs, where he supports 41 corporate YMCAs statewide in areas including advocacy, funding strategies, shared services, and board development. He has been a driving force behind impactful initiatives such as Indiana’s shared services model for finance and payroll and the CRM pilot project—both of which the YMCA of Muncie has helped shape and adopt.
While serving as interim CEO, Wade will work closely with the YMCA of Muncie’s senior leadership team and Board of Directors to maintain operational momentum, ensure alignment with the mission, and support the organization’s staff and community partners during this leadership transition.
In addition to his role with the Alliance, Wade is also the founder of Getting to What Matters, a consulting firm focused on coaching nonprofit leaders on strategy, alignment, and leadership through change. He resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is passionate about helping organizations—and people—thrive.
“We are incredibly grateful to Wade for stepping into this interim role,” said Trammell. “His leadership during this time of transition is invaluable as we begin the next chapter for the YMCA of Muncie.”
