MUNCIE, IN—The YMCA of Muncie will be hosting their second Pedal for a Purpose: Cycle-A-Thon in support of their LIVESTRONG cancer survivor program. This year’s YMCA of Muncie and Ed’s Carpet & Flooring Cycle-A-Thon will be held on Saturday, May 17th from 8am to 12pm.

LIVESTRONG is a free program for cancer survivors. Each session of Livestrong focuses on improving cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, balance, flexibility, and emotional wellbeing. The instructors meet participants where they are, encouraging them to go at their own pace—and time and again, participants exceed their own expectations. That growth, both physically and emotionally, builds confidence that extends far beyond the program.

Forty-three riders participated in last year’s Cycle-A-Thon and over $2,100 was raised. All proceeds benefit the LIVESTRONG program. The event raised enough funds to support seven participants in the 12-month LIVESTRONG program.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA encourages a warm spirit of community—a safe, comfortable place for you to build companionship with others affected by cancer and share stories and inspiration. Many cancer survivors have found new beginnings via the program.

“What has been especially meaningful is watching many graduates of Livestrong continue their wellness journey with us,” says Julia Murillo, the Wellness Program Director at the YMCA of Muncie.

“Some join ongoing programs, others find joy in group exercise, and many simply return to the Y to work out with a friend. It’s inspiring to see the community they build and the momentum they carry forward. Every session has been a true blessing to be part of, and I am eager to see this life-changing program continue to grow and impact more lives in the years to come.”

Multiple local Muncie businesses have also given to the event, including their title sponsor Ed’s Carpet & Flooring. All proceeds continue to go towards supporting cancer survivors on their journey of recovery.

If you are interested in registering for the Cycle-A-Thon or if you feel moved to make a heart-warming gift to the LIVESTRONG program, visit muncieymca.org. If you register before May 3rd, you will receive a free t-shirt.
