MUNCIE, IN — Ball State University is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the launch of the Village South Residential Development.
The event will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 13, at the intersection of West North Street and North Martin Street in Muncie.
This new housing project is part of the University’s broader revitalization plan for The Village—a public-private partnership with city leaders and private developers, including Trademark Construction, Schahet Hotels, and Fairmount Properties. The revitalization effort is transforming The Village into a vibrant district featuring new entertainment, residential, and dining spaces.
Village South will include 17 attached townhomes and eight single-family homes designed to accommodate a range of homebuyer preferences and price points. The site will also feature new green space, created in part by the partial vacancy of Dill Street. The first homes are expected to be available in 2026.
This project builds on momentum from other major developments already underway in The Village, including the University’s Performing Arts Center and adjacent Cantio Hotel, which broke ground last November. More recently, work began on a new Center for Innovation and Collaboration located just south of the University’s Alderdice Gates, at the southeast intersection of Ashland Avenue and Martin Street.
Community members are invited to join the June 13 groundbreaking celebration to learn more about the project. Parking will be available on Calvert Street and Gilbert Street to the south and west of the site, as well as in the Student Center Parking Garage, located three blocks away.
Attendees are encouraged to RSVP by June 10 to the Office of the President at rsvp@bsu.edu or by calling 765-285-5555.
