MUNCIE, IN—A Grand Night of Magic with magician Wayne Hinkle will take place at Northside Middle School on July 24th, beginning at 6 p.m.

Longtime magician and Muncie resident Wayne Hinkel has been recognized by the International Brotherhood of Magicians for his  50 years of contributions to the entertainment of countless audiences. He is a member of the Order of Merlin and recipient of its Excalibur Award.

Wayne began his magic career when he was 10 years old and has performed with Don Allan, Marvin Roy (Mr. Electric), Sir Arthur, Buckley, and Okito. Wayne’s stage shows have been presented in thirteen states from New York to Texas. During one Christmas season, he presented 32 stage shows in 23 days.

His magic entourage has included bunnies and birds, props including flowers and ropes, and mystifying tricks that involved levitating and cutting human bodies. Wayne has practiced magic continuously with the exception of his time serving as Drum Major of the Indiana University Marching 100 Band.

Wayne performs his magic with musical accompaniment. In 2009 he was a featured performer during the holiday concert of America’s Hometown Band at Emen’s Auditorium, where his ”Twelve Days of Christmas” routine was performed to the music of Muncie composer Jody Nagel and considered by many to be the culminating demonstration of his magic skills. In Delaware County, Wayne has served as Band Conductor at Yorktown High School, a musician with Ball State Bands, and currently is in his 36th year of service with America’s Hometown Band as a percussionist.

Wayne’s favorite quip is ”Magic is a vanishing act!”

All proceeds with benefit Northside Middle School’s “Titan Closet,” Southside Middle School’s “Panther Pantry,” and the Boys and Girls Club of Muncie.
