MUNCIE, IN—The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County awarded $215,264 in Community Grants this week.

Community Grants provide nonprofit organizations serving Muncie and Delaware County with the opportunity to apply for funding to support their work. Grants are awarded to address the broad needs of Muncie and Delaware County.

Organizations interested in applying for funding are encouraged to connect with the Foundation’s Program and Nonprofit Relations team. Through these conversations, Foundation staff and volunteers develop a deeper understanding of the needs within the community, identify resources and support beyond grantmaking, and provide nonprofits more time to focus on their mission work.

Community Grants are announced quarterly. The Board of Directors of The Community Foundation approved 18 Community Grants totaling $215,264 during the third quarter of 2025.

American Red Cross received $5,000 to support disaster survivors. This grant was funded by the KAKATU Foundation/David and Joanna Meeks Fund.

The Arc of Indiana received $10,000 for marketing and outreach. This grant was funded by the Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation.

BY5 Early Childhood Initiative, Inc. received $14,457 for operations support. This grant was funded by the Mutual Legacy Fund.

Classroom Connections of ECI received $1,500 for emergency HVAC repairs. This grant was funded by the Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation.

College Mentors for Kids, Inc. received $13,000 for a mentor program that pairs current students from Ball State University with elementary school students. This grant was funded by the Gordon and Pam Cox Fund, Linda and Connie Gregory Fund, Jane E. Hughes Fund, and Mutual Legacy Fund.

Delaware-Muncie Metropolitan Planning Commission received $5,000 for the Delaware County Americans with Disabilities Act Transition Plan. This grant was funded by the Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation.

Guardian Advocates Inc. received $5,000 to support volunteer recruitment. This grant was funded by the Michael O. and Nicole T. Lunsford Fund and Nancy J. Smith Fund.

Indiana University Health Foundation received $10,000 to build an outdoor pediatric rehab playground. This is the first of a three-year commitment totaling $30,000. This grant was funded by the Harry and Janet Kitselman Fund.

Indiana Youth Institute received $7,500 to provide learning opportunities for youth- serving professionals. This grant was funded by the John C. Kelly and Marcia Ressler Kelly Fund, Laura Stanley Keppler Fund, Gary and Amy Thomas Fund, Charles and Claudia Sursa Unrestricted Endowment Fund, and Faye Wingate Fund.

Little Red Door Cancer Agency received $10,000 to support the cost of nutritional supplements for cancer patients in Delaware County. This grant was funded by the Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation.

Masterworks Chorale, Inc. received $5,000 for operations support. This grant was funded by the Jim and Mary Rosema Fund and Wayne E. and Carolyn K. Thomas Fund.

Minnetrista received $9,850 for the “Threads of Home” exhibition. This grant was funded by the Jeff and Beth Lang Fund, Mutual Legacy Fund, and David and Mary Jane Sursa Fund.

Muncie Community Schools received $24,117 for a pilot program to serve elementary school families. The grant was funded by the Harry and Janet Kitselman Fund.

Muncie Delaware County Area Senior Citizens Center received $40,000 to support operations. This grant was funded by the Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation and Day Star Center Fund.

Muncie Mission received $26,840 to staff its free medical clinic. This grant was funded by the Harry and JanetKitselman Fund and Mutual Legacy Fund.

Muncie OUTReach received $2,500 for security at Muncie Pride. This grant was funded by the Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation.

Selma Lions Club received $500 for security at Bluebird Days. This grant was funded by the Liberty Perry Selma Town Endowment Fund.

Whitely Community Council received $25,000 for operations support. This grant was funded by the Unrestricted Fund of The Community Foundation.

 

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Grant requests are reviewed and approved quarterly. Community Grants are awarded to fund projects and programs for which there is a demonstrable community benefit in one of the following areas of interest: arts and culture, community betterment, economic development, education, and human services.
