By Amy Sams, IU Health Mobile Lung Screening Manager—
MUNCIE, IN—Indiana University Health is bringing life-saving lung cancer screenings directly to your community with our Mobile Lung Screening Unit—traveling across Indiana to offer low-dose CT scans to individuals at high risk for lung cancer.
Lung cancer doesn’t wait. Why should you?
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Indiana, but it doesn’t have to be. Most people do not experience symptoms until the disease is advanced, when treatment options are limited. That is why early detection through low-dose CT screening is critical, it can find lung cancer when it is most treatable.
📍 The mobile will be in Muncie on 10/20 from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. at Ivy Tech Campus, 345 S. High Street.
💨 Who’s Eligible?
Adults aged 50 to 77 who are current or former smokers with a 20+ year history. If you have quit smoking in the last 15 years, you may still qualify.
💸 Cost?
Screenings are covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. IU Health will cover the cost for those without insurance.
🩺 We also have on-site health education and smoking cessation resources to support your journey to better lung health.
🎯 Why It Matters
Lung cancer is often diagnosed too late—but early detection saves lives. This mobile unit removes barriers and brings care directly to those who need it most.
🙌 How You Can Help
Spread the word. Encourage friends, family, and neighbors—especially those 50+ with a history of smoking—to come out and get screened.
