STATEHOUSE – State Reps. Elizabeth Rowray (R-Yorktown) and J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) said Hoosier students who are interested in learning more about state government are invited to participate in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2026 legislative session.
Rowray said pages can watch the legislative process in person, tour the historic Statehouse building and interact with their state representative. The full-day program is available for students who are 13 to 18 years old. Pages are permitted by Indiana law to receive a one-day excused absence from school for their participation.
“Talking with young Hoosiers who are interested in state government and history is always exciting,” Rowray said. “They get to meet their representative and ask questions about bills and procedures. That engagement is what makes the program valuable.”
Prescott said the program begins in January with opportunities every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until the end of the legislative session. Eligible students and their parents are encouraged to submit an application corresponding with the date they would like to page. Pages are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on their chosen day, and groups serve together on Wednesdays. To schedule a group, contact the page program director at 317-232-9410 or pageprogram@iga.in.gov.
“Every year this program allows students to step out of the classroom for a day and have an interactive learning experience,” Prescott said. “They get to watch lawmakers, tour the Statehouse and assist staff. It’s a great way to learn how the House operates.”
Students are responsible for their own lunch and transportation to and from the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
