MUNCIE, IN—Muncie Public Library (MPL) has partnered with the Paul Revere Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to celebrate two significant commemorative occasions in 2026: America’s 250th birthday and National Constitution Week, observed annually September 17–23. The public is invited to a free Author Talk with Bill Clevlen on Monday, September 21 at 6 p.m. at Carnegie Library. Clevlen is the author of “Presidential Road Trips—100 Places to Explore and Experience the History of American Presidents.”
Clevlen has embarked on a national tour during America250 to talk about the book. According to his biography, “Clevlen is a nationally syndicated travel journalist and broadcaster with a focus on unique travel experiences and stories. He’s the travel correspondent for America at Night – broadcast on more than 300 radio stations and in most major media markets in the U.S. His stories are heard by millions of listeners each week across all 50 states.” His presentation will include insights from the book and a behind-the-scenes look at some of the homes where America’s presidents once lived.
Clevlen will answer questions following his presentation and books will be available for sale (approximately $20) and signing.
Members of the DAR will present a proclamation from Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour in honor of National Constitution Week and distribute free pocket constitutions.
According to Sara McKinley, Carnegie Library Manager & MPL Archivist, the DAR hosts special programming each year to commemorate National Constitution Week, with the events often held at one of the library branches. “The timing of Bill Clevlen’s tour fit nicely with Constitution Week, and his topic is tied closely to their mission of promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism,” she said.
Author Talk is an adult program, though teens may also enjoy the presentation. Light refreshments will be served. No purchase is necessary to attend the event, and a library card is never required for programs at Muncie Public Library. Carnegie Library is located at 301 E. Jackson Street in Muncie.
