Muncie, Indiana—The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will hold their 2018 State Convention, October 25 thru 28, 2018, at the Horizon Convention Center, 401 S. High Street, Muncie, IN 47305.

The State Convention provides a vehicle to train and empower our membership and to make policy on state and national levels.

Over the three days during the convention, we will renew our commitment to changing and improving the landscape of education equity for our children and continue a determined effort for economic and political inclusion.

Further, we are gaining strong recognition in the area of environmental and climate justice. This year we will bring criminal justice into focus as we devote Thursday afternoon to exploring this topic through our Criminal Justice Summit. We will also spotlight the coming election with our voter education and health equality.

There will be a job fair on Friday morning. Friday evening there will be a SoulFood Dinner and Public Mass Meeting that will be  free and open to the public. Saturday, we will have a Health Fair.

Ron Stallworth will be our guest speaker at the Award Banquet on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Mr. Stallworth is a retired police officer from Colorado Springs, CO who infiltrated the ranks of the KKK in Colorado in the late 1970’s. In 2014, Stallworth published a book, Black Klansman, about his experience investigating the KKK. In August 2018, the Spike Lee film BLACKkKLANSMAN was released nationwide and is based on Stallworth’s book, life, and exploits.
