Muncie, IN—After Chris Mullett graduated from Ball State University with a degree in visual communications, he headed to Indianapolis to work. When he and his wife were ready to start a family, they wanted to be back in Muncie. He decided to open his own company, Mullett Design Group, LLC. This year will mark his fifth year in business, and Mullett said the Muncie community has been great for his business.

While he offers a full gamut of graphic design services, Mullett found a new direction for his business after working with the Liberty Perry School Corporation. Now he specializes in helping school corporations solidify their brand and use their logos more effectively. Then he executes the physical work as well to create a variety of signs and hand-painted murals.

Mullett said along with Liberty Perry, he has also worked with Burris, Anderson, Winchester and Jay County schools. Recently he finished a complete overhaul of the Blackford High School gymnasium and is currently working on the main entry and hallways at Wes-Del with a plan to overhaul its gymnasium this summer.

As the Mullett Design Group steadily grows, Mullett is considering moving from a home office to renting office space downtown. He currently has a couple of subcontractors he works with as well as various vendors and is looking forward to developing some internship opportunities in conjunction with Ball State and Ivy Tech.

“We’re small, but we’re doing some really big things,” Mullett said of his company, mentioning that he works with other local businesses. “I’m all about networking. I really don’t want to compete with anybody.”

This business is a Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce Member and chooses to do business in Muncie-Delaware County.
