MUNCIE, Ind.– Ivy Parents Achieve Success with Support (I.PASS) is a new initiative at Ivy Tech Muncie-Henry County to help support single parents in earning workforce-ready certifications and associates degrees. The program provides single parents with connections to community programs, mentors in the Ivy Tech community and additional support through meetings.
“I.PASS was created with the single mother learner in mind. While I.PASS is designed for all parents, only 8% of single mother learners graduate with an associates or bachelor’s degree. That number is incredibly low and here at Ivy Tech we wanted to change those completion rates for our students. We are doing this through I.PASS. Part of the change is the opening of the Intercultural Center for Inclusion, a space for students with children and anyone who desires a sense of community with their fellow students. A place to belong!” Alisa Wells, Executive Director of Community Engagement and I.PASS Initiative Statewide Lead, said.
Learn more by joining Ivy Tech’s Intercultural Center for Inclusion at 316 West Howard Street, Muncie, IN 47305 on July 8th for an I.PASS Registration Event. During the event Ivy Tech staff will be on hand to teach prospective single parent students how to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), application for Ivy Tech, learn about financial aid options and discuss the I.PASS initiative. Reserve one of the 40 spots for this event by RSVPing at IPASSEvent.eventbrite.com.
