Abbigail Sprong Named 2019 Delaware County Fair Queen

Muncie, IN—Abbigail Sprong was named 2019 Delaware County Fair Queen at the 2019 Delaware County Fair Queen Pageant. (See event photos below.)

The pageant was held Saturday, June 15th at Muncie Central High School. Seven young ladies competed for the title of 2019 Delaware County Fair Queen. Abbigail will take part in the Delaware County Fair, and will compete for the Indiana State Fair Queen title.

She received a $750 cash award, gifts from local sponsors, her tiara and flowers.

Abbigail represented Delta High School. She is the daughter of David and Nicki Sprong and plans to study Elementary Education at IU East in Richmond, IN. Abbigail works at The Buckle fashion store and enjoys participating in the Runway for Rescues charity. Abbigail is an intern for the kindergarten class at Royerton Elementary School.

1st Runner Up

Sarah Smoot represented Wes-Del High School. She is the daughter of Rod and Jan Smoot. Sarah plans to attend Purdue University in the fall with hopes of going into vet nursing. She enjoys showing swine, playing volleyball, and spending time with her friends and family. Sarah always has a smile. 🙂 Sarah received a $250 cash award, a sash, tiara and flowers.

2nd Runner Up

Alexis Quirk represented Cowan High School. She is the daughter of Scott and Michelle Quirk. Alexis plans to attend Ball State University in the fall and major in telecommunications. At Cowan, Alexis is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the TRIBE mentoring program and National Honor Society. She enjoys volunteering through Student Council and Key Club. Alexis enjoys playing softball and running cross country. Alexis received a $100 cash award, a sash, tiara and flowers.

Miss Congeniality

Sarah Smoot also won Miss Congeniality. Sarah always has a smile. 🙂 Sarah received a $100 cash award, tiara and flowers.

Carlie Boggs represented Wapahani High School. She is the daughter of Charles and Stormie Boggs and plans to attend Ball State University in the fall. Carlie wants to study computer science and hopes to earn a degree in cyber security. Carlie is very involved with Feed My sheep, Coats Against the Cold and her own community service project—providing socks to children in need throughout Delaware County.

Miranda Hart represented Delta High School. She is the daughter of Tony and Michelle Hart and plans to attend Ball State University. Miranda would like to be a speech pathologist in a school working with children or in a hospital setting, working with children or stroke patients. Miranda has participated in varsity cross country, basketball, softball and track. She is very involved with her church (Union Chapel) where she interned as a student pastor during her senior year. Miranda has participated in the church program SERVE since she was 6 years old.

Gabrielle Belcher represented Cowan High School. Her parents are Andrea and LenRoy Roger. Gabrielle would like to study Behavioral Science, Psychology and Criminal Justice at Grace College. She is also interested in mentoring troubled youth. She enjoys reading and spending time with her friends and family. Gabrielle is a student leader at her church.

Sydney Cook represented Wapahani High School. She is the daughter of Bob and Julie Cook. She plans to attend Ball State University in the fall to study exercise. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, she plans to attend graduate school to study physical therapy. Because of her involvement in the Riley Club, Sydney would love to become a pediatric therapist at Riley Hospital.
