Muncie, IN—Woof Boom Radio is proud to announce the winners for the 7th Annual Morry Mannies Woof Boom Radio Scholarship. We want to congratulate each of the nominees for their achievements throughout this season and their overall career as student athletes.

Woof Boom Radio funds a scholarship program for the scholar athletes from the schools that we cover each year, be it through Muncie’s Sports Station in Delaware County or on WHBU in Madison County. A portion of the proceeds from the sponsorship of our high school sports are directed to The Morry Mannies’ Scholarship. Athletic Directors from these schools send their nominations and an independent committee selects the winners based on leadership in sports and classroom.

This was one of the most accomplished senior classes. Regardless of the challenges 2020 brought, it was a thrill to watch these student athletes compete with passion, sportsmanship, and character all year long.

Ayden Brobston, Frankton High School, has been awarded this year’s Male Morry Mannies Woof Boom Radio Scholarship.  Athletic Director, Brent Brobston, says Ayden “was a model teammate who leads by example”. Ayden was a 4-year Varsity Letter winner in basketball and 3-year Varsity Letter winner in track and tennis while adding a Varsity Letter in golf.  As a student, he was the 2021 Senior Class President and a member of the National Honor Society. Ayden will attend Anderson University where he will play basketball and plans to study National & Cyber Security.

Madilyn Carpenter, Lapel High School, has been awarded this year’s Female Morry Mannies Woof Boom Radio Scholarship.  Her hard work in practice and on the floor, with her example of great leadership, were integral to success. She was a member of the volleyball, gymnastics, and softball teams. As a student, Madilyn was a National Honor Society member and Secretary of the Student Government.

Tyler Walker, Muncie Central High School, has been awarded this year’s Male Morry Mannies Woof Boom Radio Scholarship.  Athletic Director, Tom Lyon, says Tyler “is a fierce competitor that really enjoys representing his school and community”. Tyler was a 4-year Varsity Letter Winner in both golf and tennis while adding a Varsity Letter this year in basketball.  As a student, he achieved a 4.08 GPA and compiled 50 college credits through Muncie Central’s Early College Program. Tyler is a member of the National Honor Society and was active in the Burris/Central Leadership Program. He will attend Spring Arbor University where he will play golf and plans to study Sports Administration.

Kaylee Kear, Cowan High School, has been awarded this year’s Female Morry Mannies Woof Boom Radio Scholarship.  Cowan Principal, Patrick Bloom, describes Kaylee as a “tireless worker and she brings the best out of her teammates”. She was a member of the basketball and softball teams, earning a 4-year Varsity Letter in each sport. In the classroom, Kaylee was #4 in her class with a 3.9 GPA.  She was also very involved in the National Honor Society, Key Club, and Drama Club. Kaylee plans to attend Ball State University to study Dietetics.

Congratulations to all those nominated and the four winners of a $1,000 scholarship.
