MUNCIE, IN—The State of Indiana has announced that the City of Muncie is one of only five communities statewide selected to receive State Tax Credits through an Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority (IHCDA) program.
Muncie’s winning application includes The Crossing at Trails Edge, a four-story, 98-unit senior apartment community to be constructed at 610 E. Wysor Street in Muncie. Overlooking the Cardinal Greenway, Indiana’s longest rail trail at 62 miles, the development will replace the current McGuff Roofing site, which will be demolished to prepare the property for construction. The $24.8 million project, led by TWG Development of Indianapolis, will be located adjacent to the Cardinal Greenway Headquarters. The City selected this site strategically, as the development will enhance the nearly completed Columbus Avenue rebuild and complement nearby trail access, brewery destinations, and new townhomes on Walnut Street.
Muncie was the only project selected in the Northeast region, which includes Fort Wayne. The State recently transitioned to a regional selection process, dividing Indiana into five regions: Northeast, Northwest, Central, Southeast, and Southwest. Other approved applications came from Indianapolis, South Bend, Clarksville, and Evansville.
“This was a very competitive process, and we are excited that Muncie was selected by the state. Development along the trail has been a goal of this administration. We see The Crossing at Trails Edge as another step toward positive movement for the McKinley, Gilbert, East Central, and Whitely neighborhoods,” said Mayor Dan Ridenour.
