MUNCIE, IN — The Muncie Arts and Culture Council (MuncieArts) has renewed its agreement with the City of Muncie to continue serving as the city’s official arts and culture partner through 2027. The renewed agreement, which awards $10,000 to MuncieArts each year, affirms a shared commitment to strengthening Muncie’s creative economy, supporting local artists, and expanding access to arts and cultural experiences for residents and visitors.

As the city’s arts partner, MuncieArts will continue to lead public art initiatives, support community-based arts programming, and collaborate with local organizations, artists, and city departments to integrate arts and culture into Muncie’s civic life and public spaces.

“This renewed agreement reflects the City of Muncie’s continued belief in the power of arts and culture to bring people together, tell our community’s stories, and contribute to a vibrant and resilient city,” emphasized Tania Said, executive director of the Muncie Arts and Culture Council. “We’re grateful for the city’s partnership, recognition of our ability to champion arts and culture, and we are excited to build on this momentum through 2027 and beyond.”

Mayor Dan Ridenour emphasized the importance of the partnership in advancing Muncie’s quality of life and economic vitality.

“Arts and culture are an essential part of what makes Muncie a welcoming and dynamic community,” said Mayor Ridenour. “Our continued partnership with MuncieArts helps ensure that creativity remains visible, accessible, and woven into the fabric of our city as we look to the future.”

The partnership supports a range of initiatives, including public art projects, artist support programs, creative placemaking efforts, and community events that contribute to downtown vitality and neighborhood engagement. Through this collaboration, MuncieArts also serves as a connector between artists, creatives, makers, residents, businesses, and civic leaders.

Celebrating 15 years of championing arts and culture

The renewed agreement comes as MuncieArts advances long-term cultural planning, prepares for upcoming public art and community projects, and continues its work to elevate Muncie as a creative hub in east-central Indiana. MuncieArts became the City of Muncie’s arts partner in 2015.
