MUNCIE, IN— Lahody’s Culinary Group, owner of Lahody’s Trust Your Butcher Steakhouse with locations in Muncie and Anderson, announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Vera Mae’s restaurant, a longstanding staple of Downtown Muncie.

The restaurant will continue operations under new ownership as “Vera Mae’s by Ron Lahody,” with Lahody’s leasing the space from Accutech Systems.

Vera Mae’s has been a cornerstone of the downtown dining scene, known for its atmosphere, hospitality, and role in bringing people together. Lahody’s Culinary Group plans to build on that legacy while introducing its own operational expertise and consistency to the experience.

“We have a deep respect for what Vera Mae’s represents in this community,” said Ron Lahody, owner of Lahody’s Culinary Group. “Our goal is to honor that legacy while ensuring it continues to thrive for years to come.”

As part of the agreement, Lahody’s Culinary Group will honor all outstanding Vera Mae’s gift cards, ensuring a seamless transition for loyal patrons.

The transition reflects a broader strategic shift by Accutech Systems, which has owned and operated Vera Mae’s as part of its downtown investment efforts. Moving forward, Accutech will focus on supporting local entrepreneurs by making its downtown spaces available for independent operators.

“We’ve always believed in the importance of investing in our community,” said Adam Unger, CEO of Accutech Systems. “Vera Mae’s was an important part of that effort, and we’re proud of what it became. We’re excited to see Lahody’s carry that legacy forward while we continue to support local entrepreneurs in new ways.”

The acquisition reflects Lahody’s continued investment in Downtown Muncie and belief in the area’s long-term growth. By bringing Vera Mae’s into its portfolio, Lahody’s aims to contribute to a vibrant and sustainable local dining scene.

The transition is expected to take place in the coming weeks, with additional details to be shared as plans are finalized.
